This course addresses the critical issue of prescription drug abuse, focusing on opiates and their potential impact on an employee's ability to function safely. Participants will gain insights into the importance of disclosing prescription drug use to supervisors, understanding warning signs, and managing medication changes responsibly. The course also covers the significance of drug testing in ensuring workplace safety and outlines the permissible circumstances under which employers can conduct drug tests. Recognize the potential dangers of prescription drug abuse, particularly with opiates, and the necessity of disclosing medication use to supervisors for the safety of oneself and others. Identify warning signs of prescription drug abuse in the workplace, including mood behaviors, impaired judgment, and poor reaction time, empowering participants to report concerns to supervisors promptly. Understand the purpose and permissible circumstances for workplace drug testing, as well as the rights of employees to request additional screenings and challenge results during reasonable suspicion situations.
